How to Host Games

Follow this step-by-step guide to learn how to host games in Warcraft III on DotA and Friends

Step 1

Get Access to Host

How to Get Access

1. Join our Discord Server

First, make sure you're a member of our Discord community. This is where you'll get the necessary permissions to host games.

Step 2

Get Bot Access

Request Admin Access

2. Use the /add_admin Command

In the get-bot-access-here channel, type /add_admin

Step 3

Launch Dota and Friends

Step 1: Launch Warcraft III

1. Launch Dota and Friends

Start Dota and Friends and make sure you're logged into the DotA and Friends server.

Step 4

Create a Game

Step 2: Choose Map

2. Choose Map

Click on "Host Here" and select your preferred map from the list. Make sure to pick a map that matches the game mode you want to play.

Add Bots

Step 3: Choose Bots

Select Bots

Choose from the available bots in the dropdown menu:

  • PDBot
  • TutubiBot
  • AliceBot
  • KevinBot (Farmer vs Hunter only)
  • Prodbot (Farmer vs Hunter only)
  • GTXBot
  • JenBot
  • Add Bot - For custom bots

Customize Game Name

Step 4: Rename Game

Rename Your Game

Give your game a descriptive name that includes:

  • Map name (e.g., "Legends of Dota", "Vampirism Speed")

Example: "FVH, LOD, DOTA, VAMPSPEED"

Step 5

Confirm Successful Hosting

Step 5: Confirmation

Check Bot Response

After attempting to host, check the bot's response:

✅ Success:

If you see "Creating public game" and hear a sound saying "The game has been created", your game is now live!

⚠️ Common Issues:

  • "Maps" - The map name is too similar to another loaded map. Try renaming your map to be more unique.
  • "Unable to create" - The bot you're trying to use is likely already in use by someone else. Try a different bot.
  • "bot config" or "map_invalid" - The map is only compatible with Warcraft III: Reforged.
